Circular conveyor systems
Dynamic. Precise. Fully automatic.
Cost-effective and automated circular conveyor systems
Circular conveyor systems are cost-effective, automated transport systems used wherever there is a need for continuous or intermittent material flow in large quantities. Unlike manual overhead conveyor systems, the goods are transported here by a circulating chain.
M&N circular conveyors are available as ceiling-mounted (KF) or floor-mounted (BKF) systems.
For light to medium loads ranging from 1 to 100 kg, we offer high-performance, fully automated system solutions designed specifically for fast and efficient production processes.
They ensure maximum cycle accuracy, stability, and process reliability and can be customized with:
Rotating hangers for optimal component orientation
Transfer stations for seamless process integration
The result: maximum automation, reliable processes, and maximum efficiency —even under the most demanding production conditions.
System Overview
A circular conveyor, also known as a recirculating conveyor, loop conveyor, or circular conveyor, is a continuous conveying system that moves goods in a closed loop.
- Production lines
- Assembly areas
- Warehouse and Picking Systems
- Packaging systems
- Production lines
Components of the system
The circular conveyor system typically consists of the following components:
- an endless conveyor medium such as a chain, belt, or carrier belt
- Guide and Drive Stations
- Rolling or sliding rails
- Drives, transport carriers, or product carriers
- control and safety technology
How the circular conveyor system works
The conveyed material moves continuously through transfer and drive stations. Depending on the system, load carriers may be integrated in different ways.
- Load carriers are mounted directly on the conveyor belt
- Load carriers are driven by drive pins
- Load carriers are suspended from beams and are pulled along
Typical features
- constant or adjustable flow rate
- continuous flow of goods
- Loading or unloading at different stations
- Buffering via the circulation
- Integration into automated processes
Automatic mode
In automatic mode, the system performs all movements according to the program settings. This mode is designed for continuous operation without manual intervention.
- software-based monitoring
- Speed and position checks
- Sensors for traffic congestion and fault monitoring
- Interlocks with connected systems
Manual mode / Step mode
Manual operation is primarily used for service and maintenance situations.
- Maintenance
- Troubleshooting
- manual positioning of the conveyed material
- Movements are performed while holding down the button, i.e., in tap mode
- All hardware-based security measures remain active
- Software-based monitoring may be reduced
- Manual operation must only be performed by trained operators
Safety Instructions
The following basic rules apply to ensure the safe operation of the circular conveyor system:
- No persons are permitted to remain in the hazard zone of the conveyed medium.
- Do not reach into moving parts of the equipment.
- Loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair must be secured.
- The maximum load capacity of the shelves must not be exceeded.
- Operation is prohibited if covers or protective grilles have been removed.
- Loads must not shift, tip over, or fall.
- Stop the system immediately
- Determine the cause
- Do not restart until the problem has been resolved
Commissioning
- Perform a visual inspection of the system
- Reset the emergency stop switch
- Turn on the control system
- Select operating mode: Automatic or Manual
- Check security clearances
- Give the start command
In circulation
During operation, the conveyed material moves in a smooth circular motion.
- Goods are loaded or unloaded at various stations
- Traffic jams are detected automatically, provided that a traffic jam monitoring system is installed
- The operator must keep a constant eye on the transport area
Turning off the system
- Let the system run down in automatic mode
- Press the stop button
- Shut down the control system
- Turn off the power supply, especially during extended periods of inactivity
Special Notes
- Circular conveyors are continuous conveyors. Reverse operation is generally not intended and is permitted only for maintenance purposes.
- Hazards are particularly common in curves, turning points, and narrow sections. Extra caution is required in these areas.
- Social distancing must be maintained at entry and exit points.
- Before opening the unit for maintenance, disconnect all power sources—electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical.
Maintenance and Inspection
Maintenance ensures safe and trouble-free operation and includes, in particular:
- Inspection of the conveyor chain, belts, or idlers
- Lubrication of chains, rollers, or bearings, depending on the system
- Inspection of the deflection and drive station
- Checking the sensors and limit switches
- Cleaning the conveyor path
- Inspection of all safety devices
- Monitoring the pressure of the conveyed medium
Technical Note
Maintenance may only be performed by qualified personnel.
